I was informed, after submitting a claim for a broken chair shipped via Fed Ex ground, that all shipments should be able to withstand a drop of 3 feet. The chair was boxed and bubble wrapped.

I have not seen anywhere on FED Ex where it says the merchandise should be able to withstand a drop of three feet. Are you kidding me? That means they allow their conveyor belts (or workers) to drop merchandise 36 inches. No wonder my chair was broken!

And they refuse to cover it even though I purchased the insurance. I will never use FED Ex again.

The reason for the 3 foot rule is because boxes are going to fall from shelves in the trucks. There's no getting around it.

No matter what it is, it should be packed to withstand the falls. In reality, the fall is closer to 6 feet
