I shipped an framed etching done by Frank Lloyd Wright to our architect son. We purchased it at a junk store in Ga for $75.00.
The wife was into framing and made a beautiful frame. The frame cost $300.00 in materials. We wrapped it in bubble wrap and peanuts in a cardboard box with fragile stickers over the box. And it was shipped to NY.
The box arrived with a hole in the side and when opened the frame was busted including the museum glass which cut the the etching. We went down to where we shipped it in Brunswick and they gave us the address to file a complaint. We sent the paperwork to Fedex and our $300.00 claim was denied. They said we should have contacted our shipper to fill out the paperwork.
Why didn't the shipper mention that our second visit. The forms submitted to Fedex included photographs. We found the letter from Fedex to be condescending at best.
We later found the etching could be worth 8-9 thousand but all we wanted was the $300.00. I have told thousands of people on Facebook about our treatment and of course they will never see our business again.
