FedEx is terrible for international shipments. It pains me to write this, but they're worse than the US post office. I bought an antique at an Italian auction. The auctioneer crated it and took it to FedEx in Genoa. FedEx and the auctioneer charged $1700. (Seventeen hundred dollars) for this service and the transportation to Los Angeles (plus customs clearance, which is a no-brainer for antiques - they enter the USA duty-free). The shipment hasn't moved from FedEx's point or origin in 5 days. When I call 1-800-go-FedEx, I'm told to "be patient - after all, it's Italy". How comforting. The FedEx website still shows the delivery time as tomorrow morning, but the FedEx telephone folks say "no way".
Did I pay for shipping or storage????
I finally today told the auctioneer to pick up the antique and to refund my money. Life is too short for this.
