I paid for an overnight package of flowers sent to CA from HI on a Friday to be delivered Saturday afternoon.

My tracking log indicated:

"Sep 27, 2008 8:57 AM

Held at FedEx location for recipient pickup

Package available for pickup at: 8455 PARDEE DR "

When my sister went to pick up the package, she was told that they will not release the box until Monday. This is because their inspector only works from Monday to Friday.

The real issue is, why is Fedex accepting customers money, misleading the customer to believe that the package will be delivered on the next day (paid Friday am to be delivered Saturday pm), if they don't plan to deliver it until Monday when the inspector comes to work. What if the inspector calls in sick or is on vacation during the week?

It's beyond me to know of such a huge company with not catching a simple operational errors but much worse are the pointing of fingers at other Fedex locations and not compromising with the customer who really is the only one that got screwed.

Put up a sign or something at least at all locations stating, we will not deliver on Saturdays if that really is the case and stop taking the customers money.

this was not a fedex problem, it's california state law that they have to be inspected, your shipper made the error by promising you saturday delivery

The shipper was FedEX Hawaii Airport Location. Hmmm...

again think about it this was not fedex who was holding your pkg it was the dept of ag also if you have a beef with the delivery then call your shipper they are the ones who shipped it out

You're missing the point here. The "messenger" (FedEx location in Hawaii) should not have accepted an overnight shipping at all for flowers on Fridays, since technically, the earliest the flowers would be delivered with an Inspector working is Monday and not Saturday.

The messenger should not be accepting any overnight delivery for flowers at all on Fridays. We, the customer, expect an overnight delivery to be made the next day, Saturday.

The inspectors ONLY works on Mondays to Fridays.

Also, this is Hawaii, we purchase the flowers from grocery stores, mini marts, 7-11 etc. We then run it to the Agriculture at the Airport so that they can inspect it and stamp the box before we take it to FedEx.

consumer too

Call FedEx and ask for your money back on the shipping. The inspector doesn't work for FedEx.

They work for the US dept of Agriculture and FedEx has no control over when they do or don't work. They also have no control over what the flower companies tell you or don't tell you about the packages having to be inspected when they get to the mainland.

Your beef should be with the Dept of Ag and the flower shipper if they didn't tell you about delays. Don't shoot the messenger.

To add to this string...

Monday, the package was still held by Fedex because the Inspector didn't make it to work. Still waiting to be delivered it is now Tuesday.

I can't help but laugh at this company's level of operation. Sooner or later, a competitor will come along and take over the delivery business by meeting the needs of the customer.
