My company has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars shipping with FedEx, including thousands spent on FedEx Smartpost services which are delivered locally using USPS. When you purchase a shipment to a customer, it is done through FedEx and is insured when it leaves your hands.

That's where the fraud begins. Once the package leaves FedEx and transfers to USPS (even if it NEVER touches a FedEx employee) you "insurance" disappears! You cannot subsequently insure the package, nor are you informed that you have lost your insurance. The FedEx website CLEARLY allows you to enter the value of the contents, even when SmartPost is selected.

My last package to my customer was COMPLETELY destroyed. My customer was naturally upset, so we resent another product, paying shipment twice! Both FedEx and USPS take no responsibility and not only refuse to reimburse for the good they damaged, but won't reimburse for the failed shipping services! You can't even ship a product via SmartPost directly from the post office.

You HAVE to do it through FedEx, yet it's a USPS problem for actually shipping/handing purposes and their insurance is a hoax. This is a total scam and should be reported to the FCC as fraud.

The law must change to protect consumers. America is getting ripped off by this government agency through this partnership!

So stick with USPS in the first place. You can insure up to $25,000 with Registered Mail.

Why pay someone else to hand it off ? I don't understand the entire concept.

USPS post office won't take the size package that I ship directly. Regardless, USPS is the one that damaged the item and has no accountability.
