My friend ordered some gifts for me from Harbor Freight, California. Harbor Freight used FedEx, seemingly expected gift in a reasonable amount of delivery time.

After 7 days, of no information on FedEx tracking I called and was informed the pkg was sent via FedEx Smart Post. Estimated delivery 6/20/2013. 8 days to deliver. No pkg today, so I checked FedEx Tracking.

FedEx sent my pkg. A total of 1,550.8 miles round trip out of the way past my post office to Dallas, Texas. There is an airport 1 mile from my house that FedEx uses for air transport. The airport is called Grant County Airport.

Why in the world does FedEx delay delivery by 1,550.8 miles by sending to Dallas, Texas? That's 22+ extra windshield hours wasted and delivery time delayed. I will never order from any business that uses FedEx Smart Post again. Not very Smart of FedEx to be so wasteful of gasoline, driver time and delivery delays.

They could have sent via local airport 1 mile away, or Las Cruces, NM 1.5 hours away, or El Paso, Texas 2 hours away (which is the U.P.S. hub), or even Albuquerqe, NM which is 5hours away, less than half the distance to Dallas, TX! There is no excuse for such inefficient services and customer shipping delays. My FedEx tracking number is 926129****0784******** as proof.

They edited and changed the delivery date from 6/20 to 6/21 as of this morning. They should not over ride prior information, they should add an additional line if the estimated delivery date changes. Yes I called FedEx to complain but was informed "that's how Smart Post works" .

I spent my whole career making my business operations efficient. I would fire the persons responsible for scheduling this package delivery.
